What experiences have people had with Comreg (good/bad)

I'm considering making a complaint to Comreg in relation to Unwillingness/ failure on the part of Pure Telecom to deal with an issue that's been on the go for over 6 months.

I'm being advised to save myself a big headache and not bother and my gut says that I should heed that advice. However, I'm concerned that if I don't follow through on a complaint, then Pure get away with their failure to provide the service I'm paying for. I also feel that they don't care a jot about Comreg and that is appalling.

So, before I start on a fool's errand, I'd be grateful for views as to whether there is any point in taking an action through Comreg.

Has anyone had a good experience having processed a telco- related consumer complaint through Comreg?

    Thanks in advance.

They're useless. I had a complaint unresolved with imagine for 10 months and they couldn't do anything. They've no power

Imagine stopped responding as they caused the issue and they had no solution. All comreg could do was send in error emails requesting that they contact me....ridiculous to be called the regulator and not be able to adjudicate on escalated complaints.

Imagine are chancers, see Motorola dispute and early LTE lies.

With Eir a COMREG complaint really lights a fire under their proverbial. They're a bigger target and have had findings against them in the past. Depending on Pures history you may or may not find them suddenly super co-operative.

I had an issue with Virgin Media. They were completely digging their heels in and giving me the run around. I rang Comreg and they gave me a complaint number which I had to give to Virgin before it would proceed. I rang Virgin and said I didn't want to discuss the problem anymore that I was just passing on the complaint number from Comreg. I got a phone call from a senior manager an hour later and they agreed to what I wanted in the first place.

I had two cases I needed to involve Comreg and both instances I was very happy with their input and the eventual outcome.

Although there appear to be very few members with experiences of approaching Comreg, it seems that it might be worthwhile putting a few notes together for them. I'll have a think about it. Thanks for yer replies.

I'm very annoyed with Pure's dismissiveness of my formal complaint to them as well as with their blatant disregard and disrespect for the Comreg processes that were enshrined in law to ensure providers respond properly to customer complaints.

As Pure have decided to no longer communicate with me, I've bitten the bullet and lodged a formal complaint with Comreg, which is after all the legislatively empowered last resort mechanism with power to act on behalf of consumers like myself.

    We'll see how it goes.
