Change Door Finish to Paint

    My main entrance door and frame have always been finished with a Ronseal type finish, but I am now thinking of a paint finish. Will I need to strip (Nitromors or similar) the existing finish back to bare timber before I can paint it?

    If I can avoid the stripping it may be a DIY job; stripping would need to be by specialists!

    Many thanks for any advice which can be given.

    You could try lightly sanding a small area of the door and putting Bin primer on it , if it sticks then sand , prime and paint it all. Nitromors is a Diy job , just follow the instructions, but you would need to remove the door to strip it
