Car service Groupon issue

I bought an oil and filter change and techron fuel system service for groupon on 26 July 2017. I had an NCT coming up in early august. I booked into <snip> limerick. I gave them another €405 to do various bits and pieces which they identified and suggested I needed to pass the nct Total €474. My car Failed the Nct in Charleville Co Cork a few days later. No oil filter changed, oil only topped up. Had to pay a local garage another €280 to rectify and pass my NCT in 09 LK FOrd Focus car
Terrible black guards. Do not go near them. Lethal. I am telling Everyone I meet of my experiences with them. They may have gotten away with daylight robbery but they need their good reputation to do business.

What did you fail the NCT on?

Why don't you take their bill (that says that the oil filter was changed) and the information from the NCT (that, according to what you said, states that it wasn't), shove it in the face of that garage and see what happens?

I personally would want the money for the car service back, since you have no reason to believe they did the work they billed you for.

How do they know the filter wasn't changed, oil not topped up, as a matter of interest?

Since when do they check to see if the oil filters been changed in an NCT and who pays a garage 280 to change an oil filter.

That's how all the Groupon, and franchise chains, work. Get you in the door with a "cheap" deal then gouge you on spurious repairs.

The best way to get a car ready for the NCT is to make sure that the basics are correct and then see if it fails, then bring the fail sheet to a proper garage to get repaired.

Did anyone else see Car Service & Groupon in the same sentence, and just know where this was going.

Well I've been onto their marketing manager who put me in contact with the Regional manager. He is now investigating. He has a copy of the nct report and receipt from garage so ill see what unfolds. I definitely want money back. Thanks

No, they just needs mugs who give them business and then take to public fora to complain after the event when it's too late.

Case in point: you only registered on boards.ie to vent your fury after this crowd screwed you. I note that you've been speaking to a 'regional manager' so I'm assuming that this is one of those tyre chains who have branched into the service business and whose money-grabbing practices have been well documented here.

Groupon are taking a big slice of the money in all of their 'offers'. How on Earth did you think you could get value for money with a middleman like them involved?

The AP Regional manager responsible for Limerick investigated this issue today and contacted me later. He accepted that the car was not acceptable for NCT and that the pre nct was not complete and gave me a refund of a substantial amount of the cost without any hassle which I appreciate grealty. Fair dues to him, he was reasonable to deal with and came across as a decent man. So after all that I pleased with the outcome. Thank you. Good night. Marie .
