    Hi All

Our dog is currently in UCD getting a blood transfusion which got me thinking.

Does everyone know the importance of having our pets donate blood?

I think this is an important topic as when our pets need it most, our vets need to have access to blood for our animals.

let me know your thoughts on this.

Yeah a couple of mine do it. There are very strict criteria for which dogs can donate, size, age, vaccination status etc.

I hope your dog is ok

Got two of our cats signed up with three different vets; done donations three times so far for operations.

Our dog Archie had a blood transfusion in UCD when he was first diagnosed with stomach cancer and was very low and thanks to the dog who donated their blood we got a few extra months with our boy in good health before having to put him to sleep. I will be forever grateful to that donor dog and for that extra time with him!
