So I suffer from anxiety. Not an extreme case but enough for it to bother me. I'm about to leave for a dream holiday tomorrow that I've been waiting months for I was buzzing about it for months and since last week my buzz is gone and I feel nothing but anxiety and panic. I'm sat here wanting to pack and I just feel completely emotionless. I don't know what has come over me. I travel regularly so it's not a fear of flying or anything like that. It's like my brain ruins everything on me. Can anyone relate or suggest what I can do.

First port of call is speak to your GP and explain your situation. He can prescribe something to help with the anxiety and refer you to a psychologist if need be.

Have you any idea what's causing the panic?

Have reached out to make an appointment for when I get back. I feel a bit taken back with how this came over me so suddenly

No idea really. I've been so excited making plans for the last few months and only since maybe this day last week the exciting buzz just disappeared and I feel panicked. Because of this I feel like I'm going to be a bit of a killjoy and ruin the holiday on others.

I don't think you will. I'd think that this is your dream holiday and a lot of hopes and wishes and dreams are pinned on this for a long time. Might it just be that you're now worried it's not going to turn out as you had hoped? Also, you will now need a new dream as you fulfilled this one....

Possibly worried it won't be as good as planned. Though I travel quiet a bit so don't worry much about places letting me down as that's all part of the experience. It's like my brain sees me happy and ruins it. It happens regularly when there is an exciting event coming up. Wedding, night out, trip etc. It's like I can't allow myself to be happy/excited

well, it is definitely something to take up with a counselor. I'm quite the same but for me it's just that i'm over 50 and i just don't get excited anymore unless it's something REALLY big. and even than I'm kind of levelheaded and I'll see how I get on approach. you sound a bit the same...have a chat with a counselor but maybe you're just a levelheaded person?

My partner is like that and gets excited over nothing really. At least not to the level I normally did.
Hoping to get an appointment for when I return to talk it through as I really don't want my excitement for travel to disappear as it's one of my favourite things to do.
