Hi in the process of applying for my probate on my mother's estate. We thought originally we would not have to pay CGT but we misread the thresholds. We thought we were entitled to 310000 tax free as per increase in threshold since October last but as my mam passed away in July let year it looks like the threshold is 280000. Is this correct?

Is it possible to leave out one of the life assurance policies and not declare it in order to reduce our tax bill? We will still be paying tax but a lot less? Is there any way they can trace this? I would really appreciate any advice. We are doing the probate ourselves and not through a solicitor

Read the charter. What you are suggesting and looking for advice on is tax evasion, which is illegal

    tax evasion is illegal.

also in the cases of inheritances life assurance companies usually supply the revenue with a list of payouts.
