    Hi everyone.
My parents cat has decided that he likes to sit on my car, the idiot slips getting to and is scraping the clear coat.
He's destroying the paint work and I'm fit to scream
Does anyone know how to keep a cat off a cat email without injuring the dope?

Put a cucumber on your car. Seriously, cats are terrified of cucumbers, check YouTube

My cat hates the hoover. Maybe you can leave one turned on beside the car overnight.

Rest a bottle of water on its side, at the wipers on the bonnet

install a dog and if that doesn't work, consider a horse (of course)

    Get the cat declawed

A car cover is your only way, it’s extra hassle throwing it on but nothing else will scare a cat away for long enough. At least with the cover it won’t be cutting into the clear coat.

One of the neighbourhood cats has decided to sleep on the soft top of my wife's MX-5. Hair everywhere :)

Our neighbour's cat decided to use our veggie patch as a litter box, we tried all the usual orange peel etc- I bought a super soaker water gun, two or three squirts and it took the hint.

    Thanks all.
If I catch him he will get the supersoaker.
In the mean time I'll try a few of the suggestions, not the declawing obviously.
Any more ideas keep the coming.

There's cat repellent spray you can get. I've never used it but it's supposed to work.

Put lots of catnip on top of your car, that should work.

Genuinely, urine puts cats off. You'll have to pis$ on your car though!

Had the same problem with a local cat recently, got some cat repellent and sprayed it around the car at night - only had to do it a few times before the cat never bothered coming near it again.

First time ever on boards.ie that 'have you tried blasting it with pis5' actually works:pac:

Don't do this. If you scare the cat off your car it will cause a lot more damage than just dirty pawprints. It will run and claw it in the process.

The best course of action is to hose the car down after use. This will cool the car and reduce the problem of cats sitting on it significantly.

Pour some Jayes Fluid around the car and rub the top of the engine. 9 out of 10 cats hate Jayes Fluid.

We had a similar problem too a few months ago. Until we noticed we hadn't seen the cat in a few days. Then I noticed a "funny smell" eminating from the front of the wife's car.
Long story short, pussy cat had obviously crawled up under the engine and sat on the engine tray to keep warm one night. Wife gets up in the morning and drives off, cat still in there  He obviously got a bit toasty in there as the engine warmed up.

Yours truely had to fish what was left him out. Horrific :(

So make sure you check before you drive off!!

Approach your neighbours and tell them to be responsible owners and keep the cat on their property at all times.
I ****ing hate people who think it's OK to just let a cat wander around

Besides the fact that this is his/her parent's cat, how do you propose keeping an outdoor cat inside the property line (without making the place feel like a prison rec yard) - Genuine question

Happened to me only said cat slept under the front wheel. Thought I felt something but only saw the carnage when I got home that night. Shovelled him into a slurry pit.

Don't do this; it's akin to chopping off their fingers. Also, as it's an outdoor cat, it won't be able to defend itself.

    =-=

    As said, car cover.

As a cat owner I can tell you that the supersoaker idea is best , they hate being sprayed with water , a few goes and he'll leave the car alone.
