Might be a good idea to have a tread comparing contractors cost .

    I dont get many.

U am paying 2.50 for wraping bails. I am supplying plastic.

One thing i would be intrested in is what peoole are paying for agitating slurry ?

20e to mow 5e to bale 2e to wrap
Last lad use to be e9 for cut ,bale and wrap (no plastic)

E40 to hedge cut per hour.

E50 to agitate per hour. Bought a Secondhand NC2500 last year for e700 incl vat off a client along with a clean 1800g tank. Put 8hours mixing on it.

Next 2 purchases here is a wrapper and mower. And I'll still get my contractor to bale. But at that stage I'll have mowed, ted, rake, draw wrap and stack.

That way I'll be trying for 3 maybe 4 cuts of better quality.

Different fella spreading slurry. After silage this year, 50e an hour / tractor for spreading and mixing. 2500 and 3000 gallon tanks. Previous fella was 35/hr but was less reliable.

I'm guessing it's based on averages across the country but the Journal has a "toolbox" with contractor charges: http://www.farmersjournal.ie/toolbox/contractorcharges.php

Gives some idea of price anyway

€12.50- cut, baled and wrapped with plastic provided.

Some say it's dear but the guy is worth double in my eyes. You can set your clock by him, all good equipment and I have yet to see him with a break down.
