just wondering if any of you gardeners have any advice about green manures?
i have been reading a bit about them lately.
I want to get vegetables growing next year. the area is bare now; would any of you recommend sowing green manures over winter?
    have you any positive/negative feedback?
    thanks

    You could try rye.

I haven't tried it but have heard it recommended.

Grazing rye adds root structure over the winter and helps to preserve residual N levels in the soil and Crimson Clover adds nitrogen if you think it might be low.
