    The second solicitor that you consulted is correct. The arm of the State that may (or may not) decide to award you DB (the DSP) is a completely different legal entity from the arm of State that you are thinking of suing through the PIAB. (And, even if you were employed by the DSP, that would still be the case!)

    So go ahead and slap in the PIAB claim - you can do it online. And attach scans of your GP's and consultant's reports.

    And be sure to bring the consultant's report with you when you see the DSP's medical assessor.

    Also remember that there is an appeals procedure - so if the DSP turn you down first time around, be sure to submit an appeal within the time period allowed.
