    Hi,
Just looking at a TV advertised by Currys... says it has something called Saorview Play...

    "Saorview Play
When you miss out on your favourite shows, the UJ634V features Saorview Play to help you catch up. Offering access to over 60 TV channels and 12 HD channels, Saorview Play also lets you scroll back in your TV guide to watch shows from the last seven days on selected channels."

Anyone know what this is? Not showing up in google searches or on saorview site.
The Currys listing suggests its a bit like the RTE player...
But is it just hot air?

    Thanks

Link to the TV in Currys site: LG 43UJ634V

Sounds like someone did a quick find/replace on the marketing blurb. Saorview does not have 60 channels and definitely not 12 HD. Freeview play in the UK offers up to 70 channels and 15HD.

The Irish equivalent HbbTV service will be Saorview Connect, when it eventually launches - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057041188&page=48

The above is about Freeview Play, with Freeview replaced by Saorview, as Gerry refers above.

I see Sean Hennessy Electrical Superstores in the mid-west area are carrying similar information on their website, similar to Currys/PC World
    Saorview Play

Your Panasonic VIERA 65DX750B makes catch-up TV simple thanks to the inclusion of Saorview Play. You'll have Netflix, ITV Hub, All 4 and My5 at your disposal so you can keep up with everything you love to watch, subscription-free.

All you need do is scroll back through your TV guide to find content from the last seven days. Ensure the TV's connected to the internet via its built in WiFi and you're off. The TV's fitted with a Irish Digital Ready tuner that gives you access to more than 60 TV channels and 12 HD channels, plus a wide selection of radio stations.

I see that Aldi are bringing in a 49in smart tv in the next couple of weeks and a few accessories. One of them is a 4g indoor aerial.

Same applies here if you check the media reports, a 4g aerial that supplies Saorview with 60 plus tv channels, just a copy and paste job, no experience of Saorview.

From my experience with various boxes/sets etc, RTÉ player is very hit and miss. Like many of Montrose's more technical features, it seems to suffer a lot of 'finger trouble'. A quick look at Aertel will prove that. Menus that have no similarity with the linked content; Twitter links and HTML on a TV! Very clever. :P

    Yah,
The general state of the RTE player is pathetic really...

And then we had to listen to yer wan on the radio going on about raising the license fee and she had to cheek to suggest that as a bonus for the well behaved they were going to try to restrict Player usage to license holders??

It uses Flash fer fecks sake..

    mumble mumble ....
