It's nice in HX46 in Harold's Cross - you can get their spicy tempura calamari as a starter but it's better if you add rice and have it as a main course.

The Oarhouse in Howth do a very fresh, nicely spiced Cajun calamari dish with blue cheese mayo. Small or large portion.

Anywhere in sight of the sea, so the restaurants along Howth fishing pier are a good bet.

You can get takeout Calamari from the Howth Market also if you want to have them on the beach :)

Probably miles out of the way but the fish shop in Blanchardstown (Roselawn) shopping centre had a special in these saturday...straight from howth. Either cooked or not.

Was it Billy Connolly who accurately described calamari as 'deep fried arseholes'?

Red Torch Ginger has a lovely calamari starter.

Marks and Spencer do a pretty good peppered squid. I was surprised.

You just flash fry them for 1 min to warm them up, and doesn't have the batter which can turn them into a kind of onion ring when over done. So you can taste the full sweetness of the squid meat with a nice peppery bite.

If you are in the city centre, the Fish Shack cafe on Parliament Street does nice calamari - the view will be best from their Sandycove location though :)

Linking the price of the HX46 one (lunch; the dinner menu has a fancier thing with prawns and calamari):

The lads in work like the battered calamari in The Market Bar - personally I hate it...

+1 for any of the Restuarants at Howth. I love Calamari and have never come across a bad dish up there.
