    Hi guys,

Have just gotten a hold of one of these (Edision OS Mini) boxes and I'm trying to get it setup to watch Irish and UK TV channels.

I've been told that I need Openvix on it which I have managed to install.

But I dont yet have any channels. I'm hearing these have to be uploaded on EPG's? Is this right?

Is there an online start to finish tutorial anywhere online?

    Tried youtube but no joy.

Download dreambox edit onto your PC and you can use that to upload the channels.

I can email you a file with all the English channels but my Irish channels most likely won't work for you. That'll depend on where you are and what transmitter you get your Irish channels from

Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated. I feel like the deeper I get into this, the more confusing it gets!! :-)

I've downloaded DreamBoxEdit but I literally dont have the slightest what to do with it.

You are going to need the boxes network address such as 192.168.xxx.xxx Put that into dreamboxedit along with the username 'root' I think the password is blank. That will allow you to download or upload settings to the box. Randyleprechaun might explain more on using a backup file. Another option is to put the same network address into any web browser on your network. That will allow you remote control of a lot of the boxes functions using a plugin called webif (installed by default on most boxes). You can edit your channel lists from there.

EDIT: it may seem all very intimidating at first but stick with it as the rewards are huge ;)

    Cheers.

I've been tinkering around with it and I'm getting the hang of it I think.

I think I need something called an MDU file? Does this sound right?

EDIT: Its actually an M3U I think?

M3u files are just playlists. What you are trying to create is what is known as a 'bouquet'. Bouquets are lists of favourite channels in any order you like. You could make a sports bouquet, a news bouquet, music bouquet etc etc whatever you fancy or simply one favourites. For a beginner I would recommend the webif plugin rather than dreamboxedit as it's easier to see what's what.

At the moment I'm using a program called esettings. Ive found an M3U file but when I upload the channels (in bouquets) to the box they all just appear as a kind of ''under construction'' message when I select them with the remote.

Is it possible the M3U file is out of date?
