I am in receipt of Disability Allowance and I will shortly be getting a pension from the UK.

Any ideas how the means test on the pension is worked out and how will it affect my DA?

    Thanks

I hate answering a question with another question, but here we go:

    1. How much DA are you getting now?

    2. How much is the UK pension worth per week? (Roughly - I know that sterling is weakening by the hour!)

193.00 DA per week and uk pension estimated to be around £65 (sterling) per week

OK, so you're getting the maximum rate of DA, which means that the DSP reckons that your weakly means from other sources are between zero and €2.50 a week.

Source: the DA table at this link:- https://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/1084_Illness-disability-and-caring.aspx (You need to scroll down a bit for the DA rates.)

Now, if you start getting a weekly pension payment of £65 a week - let's convert it to €71.00 - this will be regarded as an increase in your weekly means.

If you check the table that I linked above, you'll see the line:- Over €70.00 and up to €72.50 - Personal rate: €123.00

So it looks as though your DA will be reduced to €123.00, I'm sorry to say.

Edit:- "weakly" should of course read "weekly"!

How are you getting full rate DA if your partner is getting full rate JA?
