Assassins Creed Origins (Egypt)

There may be another thread on the console boards or elsewhere, but I thought that the PC gaming board needed its own thread. Im very much liking the looks of the game so far; Ive watched the 20 minute demo and a few other videos and the use of colour, especially to depict different regions of cities, coupled with epic pyramids, makes this look like this could be a return to form for Assassins Creed, a game that Ive not fully enjoyed since the swashbuckling tales upon the Caribbean in AC4.

I tried Unity and had the same problems everyone here did at the start; the PC port was appalling. I know they fixed it up since, and I did try to get into it, but the heart for it was gone. I got Syndicate and Rogue free in a bundle and never played them. The let down was so great from Unity that I didnt look at AC since.

Yet, here comes Origins; Egypt is probably my favourite ancient civilisation, they are so interesting. Everything looked solid in the video; the use of the birds, traversing the desert, and Memphis did look fantastic. According to what Ive seen, its going to be an enourmous map, along the same size as AC4, but with all land apart from the Nile.

I am a bit worried about how this will perform on PC. Still a couple of months to go on it though so hopefully they get it sorted for launch.

Assassin's Creed, for me, ended when the present day story concluded, around Assassin's Creed: Blackflag. UbiSoft rested on their laurels trying to make bigger, more impressive worlds, but filling them with nothing to do and the same game mechanics we have played for years now.

Origins looks like a desperate attempt to rehash the old stuff (things that worked) with a little spice of change to rekindle the franchise. Damage numbers? Loot? Assassin's Creed isn't a RPG. I won't be picking this up and I genuinely think this (like Mass Effect: Andromeda) will be the last iteration of the franchise for quite some time.

Looks pretty though, I'll give it that. Then again, so did Paris and London.

Remember when they brought in that tower defence type crap in the third one was it? Horrible !

Just saw a video with the map on it; I really hope they do a good job of the PC port cause wow, this is really looking like it could be a return to form for the series.
