My trusty '04 Ford Focus 5 door 168000 mile 1.4 petrol is about to be donated to the " fecking drive yourself 20 miles to and from work" first born daughter fund .

I assumed it wouldn't be such a big deal to replace it with an '08 or '09 same as above . But now my sister, who works for a Ford garage elsewhere says that most of the Focus ( jesus whats the fecking plural of that , Focai ? :D ) around that year are Diesel 1.6 and the 1.4 is scarce . Also she reckoned that I should try to avoid the 07 and 08 models ( she told me why , I can't remember , something to do with electric doors or something, trouble , something something ) .

But I like my Ford Focus , grand to drive , loads of room for us either around town or going to the beach or all of us sitting in and going for dinner (somewhere cheap cause I always have to pay ), easy and cheap to maintain and most mechanics seem to know whats going to be wrong with it before it does . I'm also 50 this year so I'm very stuck in my ways and don't like change .

Anyone have any thoughts on this ,

PS: it would be great if your thoughts were along the lines of " I have an immaculate '09 1.4 petrol one here with 50,000 miles that you can have for under 5 grand .
