Wood pellet stove with external air supply

    Hi,

First thread so apologies in advance.

Basically I am trying to find out if there is such a thing as wood pellet stoves with external air supply available, and if they would be better choice than a standard well known brand multi-fuel/wood burning stove with external air supply.

We moved into our new home back in April. Our current space and water heating comes from the condensing oil boiler and solar tubes, with the third heat source specified to be multi-fuel/log stove with back boiler (yet to be fitted). We have 20 aluminium radiators throughout the house. All connected to manifold system with 300lt heat store in the hot press.

We have good insulation and made extra effort at airtightness during construction. We have a MVHR for the ventilation, and have fitted two pipes under the floor for the external air supply for the planned dry stove and stove with back boiler.

We had the solar tubes fitted in June and they have provided majority of hot water over the summer. Space heating hasn't been required this past few months.

I am thinking about fitting the stoves as the two flues are starting to gather the rain! My reasons for considering the wood pellet stove are ease of use, clean, more manageable heat control for the low temperature aluminium radiators.

    Any suggestions/advice welcomed.

Most pellet stoves have the option of an external air supply but few are compatible with air tightness.
Definitely MCZ have a couple of options. Be worth taking a look at there website. There is a product filter so just click on "passive homes"

Try woodpelletstoves.ie they do the kalor brand and have stoves designed for passive houses. I have personal experience with this brand and would recommend them.
