Just wondering if scrappage can go toward a deposit in PCP.
Have a 2007 which prob worth 1k so say I used it as a scrappage deal against a new Octavia using 6k deposit = 4K scrappage + 2k cash.
Or would the only take deposit in cash.

Most of these scrappage schemes are designed to be incentives to use as a deposit towards a PCP deal. I'd say it should not be a problem but check with the dealer to be sure.

I used my alfa gt as scrapage 3k eu and gave the rest with cash earlier this year.

If your car is worth more then deposit and its over 30%, dealership gives you check for the rest.

they take both, not sure which one are you looking at but I was thinking of doing the same and both Octavia and Super have a 16 week delivery for petrol models... talked to a few dealers and they have nothing in stock

Was thinking of the 115bhp 1.0 tsi
Haven't set foot in a dealers yet tho

At this point may wait till new year .. would scrappage be available in the new year.. is it a government initiative and in the budget?

As I mentioned earlier these are no offical scrappage schemes, they are marketing speal for giving a discount off a new car in order to encourage people to use their old car to buy a brand new car. There is no government scrappage scheme currently. They run these offers just before the registration change over twice a year to drum up sales so I'd expect similar come November for 181 sales.

so the VW group have introduced an "ECO grant" for old diesels ,, looking at the Skoda deal you can get €2750 grant for an Octavia. Last week it was 'up to' 4K for a "scrappage deal".. not sure if you would get 4k for an Octavia but the deal doesn't appear as good
