Its nearly time to change my tv viewing. I'm wondering which is best free to air sat. or free sat, systems I will also want saorview to get Irish channels in multirooms. When I put up the saorview ariel is there a distribution box to sent the signal around the house.

If your house is wired for LAN you can make the whole lot available over the LAN to smart TVs, tablets, PCs and any other device that can run an application to view the channels.

Free to air box's tend to take a little bit more setup but can personalised, sequence of channels, etc but just have now and next epg. More advanced boxes take a bit of setting up but I understand can replicate subscription services.
Freesat boxes come in two forms, a single tuner and twin tuners, and the epg is 7 day, handy for recording, auto updates, etc, they tend to be more expensive, the single tuner has no inbuilt memory, but a hdd can be added, the twin has memory built in.
Saorview can be distributed through a simple splitter, to multiple sets, then it depends on whether the tv's have saorview tuners, extra boxes might be needed, in which case combi units could be used.

    Freesat receivers - https://www.freesat.co.uk/get-freesat
    Freesat channels - https://www.tvchannellists.com/List_of_channels_on_Freesat_(UK)
No Irish channels, Humax receivers are always recommended.

A new Saorview Connect box is due to launch in the coming months.

Regarding distribution of the terrestrial channels, a splitter might do but if you're planning to feed multiple TV points a distribution amplifier might be required depending on the signal level from the aerial.

The problem is there's no confirmed release date yet, we've been waiting 2 years to even see the specification. They are saying it'll be released this year, 4 months of the year remaining.

When released it'll be more expensive than the current PVR. The current box retailed at €230 when launched a few years ago (now about €90), expect the new box to retail about €250 (or more?) at launch.

Regarding the distribution box, it's a simple terrestrial signal amplifier, with the required number of outputs to feed the number of TV points in the house. It is used where the signal from the aerial is insufficient to supply a number of TV points, the amplifier boosts the signal to an acceptable level. Noting to do with Sky eyes or Sky boxes.
