2010 toyota auris 1.4 diesel filter cost

    Any idea on the cost of replacing the air filter on this? Mother brought her car to be serviced, they said she needed to bring it to the main dealer to get the air filter changed, not sure why.

    Of course she didn't get it sorted and now the car has died (starts up and dies off when she trirs to drive it). Hoping its as simple as changing the filter but any idea on how much it would cost.

    If it is a diesel it may the DPF filter and not the air filter which may warrant the referral to the dealer

    This honestly makes more sense. Was thinking it was a bit odd that the mechanic was unable to change an air filter.

    Any idea what that would cost?

    Could you not call the original garage and ask for clarity as to what the problem was they identified, or is it mentioned as an advisory on the invoice from the service.

    The car dying (without engine lights) is usually just a blocked filter. DPF won't stall a car, it might put it into link mode but you'll get a Christmas tree in the dash.

    Changing the fuel filter is pig of a job on some cars so maybe that's why it was referred to main dealer.
