    Nothing surprising about that.

I was out until four in the morning rescuing heifers that were stranded in the floods.

    Eating a nice burger now.

Pigs in used for meat shocker.

Well they did literally save the bacon.

They now feel that they must apologise because some people are offended by the fact that they ate dead animals that were bred specifically for eating.

I'll be suspicious though, if farmer Mallon's place mysteriously goes up in flames next week. And the fire-brigade hoof it straight rind.

Reading the title I thought OP meant Gardai had been rescued from the fire.

But then I read the OP and it's nowhere near as intriuging.

Poor piggys had been through enough, should have been given a pass on being slaughtered.

Why? It's what they were bred for. What else is one to do with 320kg of pig?

Thread title is just a tad deceptive, since it was 6 months after the fire that the pigs were slaughtered.

"Six months later she did just that and the firefighters cooked the sausages on a barbecue."

I assume this is something college people would be upset at (you know the type) But forgetting what the animal was bred for as others have said.

But if the preg was slaughtered and sold in Tesco to joe public would anyone be out-raged? :p

This is a story that's equal parts cute and bittersweet. I'm a meat eater (not necessarily proud of it, though not ethically conflicted enough to stop eating meat) but I wouldn't go rubbing this story in the face of anyone who may be uncomfortable about it.

On the other hand PETA have reacted to it, and PETA are complete and utter scumbags so that alone is one positive from this.

The firemen did not behave in a very Christian manner.

    What would Jesus do?

I believe he would take out the whip and let her rip.

    Oink!
