Does anyone know what's happening with the upgrade to the Tara exchange? The Eir website has been stating that fibre broadband would be available within 6 weeks since April but there's still nothing?
I can accept delay if the reasons are made clear and revised timelines are provided but this is a joke.

The fibre broadband available since April is FTTC, located from Ross Cross and this would only be available to those living close to that cabinet, the rest of the exchange area is spread over a large area and is currently in development for fibre to the home. Lots of work over past few weeks along the old N3, FTTH should be available there at some stage between now and Christmas, but with the size of the exchange, not all areas will be done at once and some premises may have to wait several months after first premises go live, which is typical with most exchanges in the FTTH rollout programme.

That's interesting. I live in Dunsany and there are new poles along the road with large reels of wiring on them. So I assume that they are for FTTH. Hope they might progress these sooner rather than later.

Are Eir themselves responsible for the roll out or is it contracted out? Just wondering if there's any means to get an estimate as to when it might reach Dunsany?

OpenEir are responsible for the rollout, Eir just sell the product.

try emailing OpenEir for an estimated date fibrepower@openeir.ie

Was in touch with Eir ... they said that Dunsany should have FTTH by Christmas. Bit non-committal as they use words like "suggest" and "should" but goes with the territory I guess!
