Hi there,
There is an issue with role permissions that is being worked on at the moment.

Is this a valid legal issue?

More for curiosity rather than anything else.

I attended a wedding yesterday...my uncle and his non eu national bride whom he has beem living with for four years. My dad was to be the witness but wasn't called to sign the register, instead the best man signed it. As I happened to be the only one with a spare hand they gave me the folder which included a notice of marriage (giving my dad as the witness) and the copy of the register (showing the best man). Thankfully we managed to catch the solemiser before he left and got the whole thing sorted out as all happened to have id on them but he did mention it could have caused issue with gnib stamp 4. Could it?

2 witnesses over 18 is the only stipulation. Registrar may or may not ask for ID. They dont have to be residents in Ireland so the stamp 4 is irrelevant there I would have thought. Is that what youre asking?

Or are you saying your Dad was listed as a witness but you signed it and thats where the problem is? Thats ok too.

No, the issue with the stamp 4 was for my uncle's new wife's application for residency post marriage. The solemiser said that they would check that the notice of marriage and certificate tallied. My dad was supposed to sign as per the notice of marriage but the best man did in error. Anyway it all worked out.
