    Hi,

Would anyone be able to help me out here. I am trying to change my name via deed poll, but I am struggling with something. I have bought deed paper but when I tried to print the template onto the paper from the courts website, the text is being printed outside of the red lines. I tried for ages but only have a limited amount of pages so I cant keep printing it if it isn't working.
There is absolutely no way you can edit the document (margins, text, etc.), and I want to get the process completed before college in September.
If anyone knows how to print the document officially inside the red lines, or if somebody has deed paper and can complete the process and send it to me <mod snip>
If you know anyone who can do this for me <mod snip> as I've contacted a solicitor and they charge €375.00 for the process which is ridiculous.
    Thank you.

Trace over the lines on an A4 Page and print on that till you get it right.

It is possible to edit any precedent from courts.ie.

Copy and paste the precedent document into a word document and edit the document and the page margins, until it is correct.

Then practise printing it off on plain paper, until you get it right.

When you get it right, print it off on deed paper.

There are loads of typists who can do this for you, otherwise.

I've removed the portions of your post which were not appropriate for this forum.

Or, you could just write the deed out by hand within the red lines. SFAIK there is no rule of court requiring printing.

There is also no rule requiring you to use deed paper either.
The deed poll office insist on deed paper, they also insist on typed answers ( no handwriting ). They are hard to contact too.

Hi, I really just want to offer assistance to anyone that is Irish born that is changing their name legally in Ireland. This advice is based on my own experience and I hope it helps

First you need to do all this at least 2 years before you get new passport with your chosen name,

You need to do it by deedpoll first..the economical way is to print off the forms that are available online so that is a help. YOU DO NEED TO PRINT IT ON DEED POLL PAPER which you can get from most solicitors...the chap I went to didn't charge me anything, Easons used to sell it but now they don't. You need to make sure you size the document to fit in between the red lines...You can practice this by photocopying the deed poll paper until you get it right with your printer. THen go with your witness and their ID and a printed off Affidavitt of Attesting Witness to a comissioner for oaths and have all that needs signing signed. They will charge you for that so check before hand.

Then head to Dublin to the High Courts Building. They will look after you in the Deed Poll section and tell you what to do. At the time of writing this message it cost €60.00 stamp duty which you must pay to get the Deedpoll enrolled. Then they do their bit. Now unless you are living near or want to go back to Dublin when The Deedpoll has finished its enrollment you need to bring a decent envelope with about €2.00 in postage on it and your address, as they will post it back to you and save you the journey if you want.

The next thing you do when you have your enrolled deedpoll returned to you (1 month approx) go into your bank with your Id /passport and latest proof of address, adoption registration cert or birth cert and of course your deedpoll. This is how you start generating proof of your usage of name. Get them to change your account name and the one on your bank card...they will charge for replacing your card so be ready for that.

Next head down to the nearest Social Welfare office with all your documents and into the SAFE Card station....They should be able to change the name on the card straight away and depending on how busy things are you should have the new one with your proper name within a week.

Next notify all those you pay by direct debit and standing order i.e. Electricity company of your name change.

All of this is very important as you will need 2 YEARS OF PROOF OF NAME USAGE before the passport office will issue you with a new passport in your new name!!!

MY own experience with the passport office was hheartbreaking. I provided them with an Affidavit and with many proofs of usage of my name INCLUDING my NEW NAME Public Services Card and bank card but NO without 2 years of Elec bills and bank statements with my new name on it they refused my application.....So now I have to appeal. I have found this to be a disgraceful process by the passport office seeing as by next year you won't be able to get a passport without a Public Services card. So hopefully this will help you out there that choose your own name to be free. I wish I could be of more help.

Hi Sorry again, Just find it a bit confusing I attempted to start a thread there a couple of weeks ago, couldn't see it anywhere today so posted this EDITED reply to help this fellow out...I thought that was some of what boards.ie if for?

Just posted a new thread now and hopefully that will not magically dissappear like the last one, At the end of the day I am not spamming as you say just genuinely attempting to offer resonable help......I think Spamming as you described it to me before is quite something else altogether.

Quote in your words""Hi grannysmith1, welcome to boards. It is sufficient to post just the once in one thread, rather than 13 times in quick succession, which is regarded as spamming on this website."

Like I said just want to help somebody with their difficulty....Is that your job too or do you have to be rigidly controlling to somebody who has explained in a clear and mature manner that they don't have much experience using this form of communication.

The reply I left for this man Has been EDITED AND IS NOT THE SAME MESSAGE AS BEFORE> So shall we all gather up our own apples now and play nicely? Granny Smith :)
