i have had this vectra for some time, while washing it I found the sturdy looking "alloys" are actually close fitting covers ,made of plastic.

do i need to remove these for nct?

i found an old thread here on Boards that says access is needed to wheel studs, these ones i have ,give access.

    advice appreciated,

if you can access the wheel nuts they are fine. If they are easy get off ask the tester when he comes out to take the car as long as you are there early

    advice appreciated,

Yes, hub caps must be removed, and the wheels cleaned

Are the nuts themselves covered with a cosmetic cap?If they are, they will need to be removed.

If the nuts are visible with the covers on then they can stay in. Never heard of cleaning steel wheels for the NCT

the reason for removing hubcaps is so they can check the wheel nuts are present and correct. Obviously if the hub caps don't cover the nuts, they don't need removing.
