How long to wait after deadline?

    Hi all,

so I went to an interview with a company Monday last week and got a call that same day asking if I could come in Wednesday for an assessment.
On Wednesday however everything was different, I sat for my assessment and all was going well - nothing complicated at all- at the end of the assessment the interviewer reviewed my answers (i was the only one in there) and asked if I could stay for another 2 hours or so. I said "sure" and she left.

A few minutes letter she came back with someone else from the team, the 3 of us were having a chat basically, the other person asked some things about my background etc... after a long while they said they are impressed with me and my background and asked if I would like a tour of the office. So they give me a tour of the office, what I will be doing everyday, how the business works etc..
After which they bought me back to the waiting room and told me someone else will come along soon.

After a few minutes two more people come in, once again this was more of a chat than an interview really, at the end they just told me what training they will offer me, who i will be working with, how may hours etc... and once again tell me I'm exactly who they're looking for, then they say that they will call me by Friday(18th) at 5pm to make an offer or not.

I left with a pretty good feeling but didn't get my hopes up too high, however, Friday comes and not even a call to say "thanks for your time blah blah".

I was just wondering if this is a common thing and if so how long should I wait to call back? Or do you think I simply didn't get the role and shouldn't bother?

    Thanks!

I'd say they hadn't the paperwork sorted. That's all.

The person you interview with isn't normally the person that give the final sign off and the person making the decision isn't normally in as much or a rush as the interviewers.
So the timeline that they will phone with a decision often get pushed out. I would send an email tomorrow (Tuesday) to the interviewer, normal stuff, thanks you for taking the time, show around etc, have you an update etc.
