What's next after customer service?

    Hi guys,

Looking for a bit of advice. I work in customer support (and have done for three years). I currently work for a large company in a very different kind of customer support service eg: we're not the computer says no type.

And now I'm wondering, what's next? I'm bored of customer support, I want something new, but I feel as though I've worked myself into a rut that I can't get out of.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I have many friends in Customer Service that made two completely different moves.

The more technically minded, "Fed up with the Client" ones moved to Operations and eventually into Business analysis.

The ones who loved working with the client became Account/Product Managers.

Are either of these options viable in your current company?

    Thank you for your reply.

The job I currently do touches on account management - I'm not a fan of this aspect at all. It is possible in my current role, but not a job I'm willing to do.

I am thinking of moving company to be honest.

What would you like to do?

I'd start by thinking about what your dream job would be ? Then consider how you get there based on your current qualifications and experience. If your route to getting there isn't straight forward then look for positions that would expose you to the possibilities of becoming better qualified and experienced for it.

Would you consider going for the civil service?
