Cat Dandruff or something else?

    Hi,

I was recently trying to put flea treatment on my cat.
Whilst doing so I removed his collar.

The flea treatment application wasn't a roaring success so I checked his fur afterwards to make sure he doesn't have fleas.

I didn't see any flea droppings but he does have a few lumps of brown flakes on his skin.

This is on the back of his neck where the collar would have been

I tried to take a photo of it, the photo doesn't fully do it justice but essentially he has a couple of clusters of these brown flakes attached to his fur.

Is this dandruff or some other allergy. I don't think it's a parasite but am open to correction

    Thanks:confused:

It may be a reaction to the actual collar? Is the cat scratching it like an irritation?

He wasn't scratching it excessively. I've removed the collar for the moment though. I'm wondering if it is a reaction to an insect bite or if it is just a skin infection.

If it doesn't clear up of it's own accord I'll need to get a professional opinion I suppose

looks like flea eggs to me. Not sure when you can treat him again - what did you use?

I used Bob Martin's spot on but he managed to lick it. This caused him to hypersalivate and me to panic so I washed it off him.

wait for at least 10 days. That stuff has had some bad reviews. Would suggest get a flea comb and comb (if cat lets you) on a white sheet and see what comes off.

Also looks it could be a wound? Try and get some proper anti flea drop on from the vet (I would never use Bob Martin) and try and make sure you don't get it near that spot. As advised, wait 10 days. In the mean time, use the flea comb.

Flea eggs are more white in colour I think.

Thanks, I'm going to bring him to the vet to find out what it is
