Quick question....would you buy a 2014 Ford Focus with 31000 miles or a 2015 Ford Focus with 60000 miles? Both are the same price €13500 BUT the 2014 car has been driven in Ireland whereas the 2015 car has been imported from the UK...was told the 60000 miles are from motorway driving. What do ye advise please?

Buy on condition, service history and history check.

Is the UK car the same price plus or including VRT?

If they have had to drive daily, check for corrosion caused by salt.

€13500 for both cars. VRT included in the price.

Would 60000 miles on the motorway in the UK be better than 30000 miles driving around the roads of Monaghan/Cavan?

Yes, assuming that it's been serviced correctly.

And as well assuming you can be certain 60k miles in UK were really motorway miles not city start stop driving or rural poor roads commuting.

I bought a 2013 UK import focus 2 years ago and never had a problem with it. In same situation now with 2015 one, deciding to buy UK or Irish car.
(My 2013 is for sale of your interested )

I bought a 2014 Mondeo UK import lots of nice extras on it compared to any Irish ones I'd found now it had full ford service history from ford UK which helped me decide + full service as part of the deal I'm glad great car

On cars that new, the salt on UK roads won't have done enough damage for rust to be a problem.

Much better chance of a car having been properly looked after in the UK as well, and UK cars tend to have better spec (although in fairness it's usually possible to buy a decent spec Irish car these days) and a bigger/more powerful engine.

Only disadvantage is the stigma attached to imports, and make sure that you verify the mileage, some UK cars are so well cared for they're prime candidates for clocking.

The other thing is obviously the clocks will be in miles rather than kms if that kind of thing bothers you.
