Trump almost totally isolated: how can he last?

With the firing of senior and longstanding Trump advisor Steve Bannon (an odious individual in my opinion) is there anyone around Trump left from the start of his term as POTUS? These firings say to me that Trump is not only a compete narcissist bordering on psychopathic, but his ego is such that he cannot take any sort of advice or criticism.

He has totally isolated himself. And now Republicans like Arnie Schwarzenegger have come out on Facebook and denounced Trump. Former Trump supporters are turning against him.

At this rate, how can he possibly last a full 4 year term?

To be fair Steve Bannon is a more worrying individual than Trump to my mind, he's an anarchist-capitalist*, I am not saying that from a PC/SJW point of view at all (in fact he wouldn't have thrived if PC concerns hadn't restricted "acceptable" dialogue IMO )but his goals are not what I agree with at all in terms of breaking down the system. Trump is a populist thats something very different and I don't feel he has grand plans unlike Bannon.

*I won't use the short hand anarchist capitalist as I don't feel that most anarchists have actually thought through that ruthless capitalism could very much flourish in the structure they aim for unless there is an overarching structure in which case its just socialism/communism)

Edit: Also Schwarzenegger would have been genuinely a great president!shame about the birth place rules

Well, I think it would be entirely out of character for him to resign; the more he's opposed the more he digs in his heels.

Barring that I can't think of anything else that could get him out of office. The Senate is held by Republicans, and they'll certainly never act to impeach him.

I don't think I've ever seen a president before that almost daily has a new story where he or a member of his staff has done something dumb, rude or unpresidential as it were.... He also appears to be completely ineffective. The wall, immigration ban and obamacare are where exactly?

Having said that I dunno... I think smarter brains are cleaning up his messes slowly but surely and he'll probably just settle down into a 4 year term of achieving little but dividing the country. Likely won't run again or won't win if he does. But what do I know.....

I do like this meme though.

I hear all these Trump haters and they are a dangerous bunch because they don't even have enough foresight to see who takes over if he goes.
Mike Pence leading the United States is about as frightening as it can get.

The problem is the same one that Nixon had. The media dislike him.

No POTUS will succeed when the majority of mainstream media want to see you sacked.

When you peel the skin off the media bubble, you begin to see that things like "build the wall" are bills that were passed before Thrump said he'd run.
Why do anti hate protesters need to wear balaclavas?

We in Ireland suffered and still suffer from media influence. During the 'troubles' we were made to believe that both sides were as as bad as each other, when the fact was and still is that the Unionists are bigots and intolerant. With no republican violence it's hard for the media to water it down now.

Trump may have and may yet be a good POTUS, but who wants the media as enemies? This presidency will in my opinion weaken the media even further. The next POTUS (REP or DEM) will need to neuter them.

In the past the left (although democrats aren't really the left just less right wing than the republicans) looked out for the rights of the average working man and that was their role in politics but they abandoned that when it looked like everyone was set with a comfortable life and decided to throw their weight behind identity politics and create a situation where apparently everyone was racist or sexist, intolerant and they were now standing for the rights of these people that were supposed victims of modern society.

Of course that kind of bull**** doesn't wash with the average joe who just wants to get on with his life and cause no harm to anyone else but doesn't like being effectively accused of being a racist and sexist and so Trump arrives announcing he's going to look after the average joe and he understands them and he has a certain appeal primarily because he's the opposite of all these bull**** social justice warrior politicians. They can ignore all the bad stuff about Trump because he talks a good game and makes it sound like he might get some things done.

Fact is the Democrats are to blame for Trump, in a sports contest if the overwhelming favourite loses to a massive underdog you shouldn't give credit to the underdog you should criticise the favoured team who were so incredibly poor that they allowed the underdog to win.All Hillary Clinton had in her favour and all she eventually could resort to as why people would vote for her was because she was a woman if the democrats put forward a proper candidate Trump wouldn't have got close to getting elected.

Still though, reckon the 'Ra had more balaclavas, which is apparently a big issue for you...

    (Ignoring the use of SJW)

You could blame the republican party just as much. They put forward candidates that clearly out qualified Trump.

Trump's true self appealed to the lowest common denominator - those that STILL support him now.

Another portion of his supporters fell for the relentless character assassination of all his opponents, both republican and democrat. They regret it.

Another portion were those that wanted a change from politics as they knew it. They regret it.

Another portion were those that did it for the lols /protest votes as they did not believe he could win. I'm fairly sure they regret it.

He's a snakeoil salesman who is being found out as completely incompetent, racist, egomaniac narcissist, an extraordinary liar and a bully.

He will either tow the party line or walk now. He will walk though in time if not now, after enriching his business, blaming "the system" and claiming he tried his best.

TBh i think trump will last the term.
The reason being people like bannon got him elected on a mandate from the people , trump tried to run a government with these outsiders and renegades but the "deep state" and political elites tried to stop him at every turn.
He has found out he cannot run government in wshington without the support of these guys. He has found out the hard way

He has now hired people more aligned to political elite now.
It's going to run smoothly because it's more of the same and anything new.
Trump may have appeased Washington but he will lose his base voters (imo).
Bannon was a hero to many of trumps voters.
It'll be interesting to see if Bannon will continue to defend trump at the helm of breitbart now.

In trumps defence has passed many bills - real good stuff too on thing like child trafficking but that's widely ignored in favour of cheer-leading on his failure on repealing obamacare.
Which in fairness to Trump he offered an alternative and it was rejected by some republicans who demanded for the past term that obamacare be repealed - then they vote against said repeal...like ffs.,

on a side note - the OP mentioned Arnold. Fcuk him.
Arnold is a clown - great bodybuilder but believes his own hype.
Remember he got his maid pregnant and had her and the child hanging around his wife and kids for years and said nothing. only got caught when the child grew up and look the image of arnold and his wife confronted him.
he is a scumbag and only a token republican - was in bed (literally) with democrats for decades.
Arnold is only hopping on a bandwagon cos his hollywood star isn't as bright as it once was.

Trump is doing a great job in laying bare how bad the other politicians are .

Mod: Absolutely and unequivocally a political thread, so I'm going to suggest people investigate the Politics forum for chatting about Trump and his basket of lunacy. There's at least one thread going on there on this topic, so I won't move this one over. Please read their charter before posting.
