    Hi there
We just picked up the keys for our new (second hand) house, this weekend.
The house was originally wired for smart home technology (2004 style), but it was never fully installed. There are a number of these plugs with three round holes (see attached picture). Does anybody have any idea what these are for?
    Thanks

    Table lamps etc.,

Controlled by a light switch in the room.

Also they're quite an old tech/plug, definitely not smart home equipment.

We had them in my folks house in the eighties!

Reason of shape is due to them being 3amp. And not to be mistaken for plugging a bigger appliance in.

Used generally for lamps in a room, all sockets controlled by a switch at the door for quick turning off and on of all the lamps. Also usually based on 3 amp power supply, typical for lamps!

They are like the sockets they have in hotels to stop you charging your phone.

+1 the plugs they use for table & freestanding lamps in hotels are small triangular units which look more elegant than domestic plugs and the different shape of the plug tells guests that they can't use the socket for a laptop or to charge their phones.

Unless you bring an adapter ....
