Have a Phillips 40PFL8605 TV. On this TV is a DVB-T tuner so I can hook in my ariel to it. But for the life of me, I cannot figure how to record a program on Saorview. Program guide does not work but I would like to be able to record programs to a usb device. Anyone any ideas?

Not sure from the review if you can record via usb. It seems to be via sd card, which is unusual, imo.

You can't record programmes from the DVB-T tuner to USB device, & the SD card is for downloaded content.

When you say the guide doesn't work, do you mean for recording purposes, or that it doesn't even display information?

You're sure it's Saorview you're watching, not analogue cable? What channels do you get?

My brother had a Philips TV during the rollout of Saorview 6-7 years ago and I remember it was never user friendly when it came to reception of the service, displaying of channels etc.

It is Saorview. Analogue is no longer. It is only digital these days. So back to the question. Do I need to buy a saorview box before I can record on a saorview channel

Yes, this is the only one on the market that's Saorview approved - https://www.powercity.ie/?par=10-23-WP6500

Analogue cable is still going, in Dublin anyway.

I already answered your question re. the TV's Saorview recording abilities i.e it has none.

Cable only. I was talking about Saorview. It is only available on digital

    You don't say ...

Anyhow, you mentioned the EPG not working, & I just thought it was worth ruling out the fact that you may actually be connected to the cable network, since it's come up here before, but sure, carry on.

Looks like you can't, there's no mention of recording in the manual...

Thanks Kooga, mine is a few years later. It is a nightmare to setup at the best of times but I don't have the option of country. It is only 'shop' or 'home'. Hence I am hugely reluctant to rest my TV settings unless you have any ideas how to setup 'country'. Can you say, via your menu system you can modify the 'country' settings. Thanks
