Snapped the external cable as it comes into the house while trimming the hedge. Looks like something I could fix myself? As in cut it back and reconnect the main wire. Good idea bad idea?

Put the correct connectors in and waterproof well.

Any water that gets in will track down the cable to your router and wreck it.

Call Virgin, they'll send a crew and do a proper weatherproof patch. We made the same mistake.

Neighbour cut ours by accident, Virgin were out the next day to fix it free of charge.

edit: get on to them on twitter, much faster and very helpful on there.

Thanks everyone. Likely be Monday that they come. Can I connect to neighbours wifree? Have never managed to connect in the history of this idea though

Plug out your router and then follow the instructions on their site. It's your VM username and then whatever password you setup for horizon wifree. If you forget it you can reset it.

Connector blocks will also sort you out until they come fix it.

Definitely get them out. It will cause problems in the future otherwise.
