Anyone know if Opel will be doing a new model version of their latest Astra? The last model seemed to sell well (here at least) and was quite substantial and classy looking. Last few models the saloon did take a few years to follow, think they're still selling the old one.

I can't see it happening, demand for saloons is tiny in Europe, if you look at the Corolla it's not even sold in saloon format in the UK for the last 10 years plus.

The new Insignia is pretty good value, base models kind of fill the saloon gap.

Saloons are ****. They make no sense at all. Why have a saloon when you can have a hatchback?!

Yes they can look prettier but most modern cars looks **** anyway.

Try putting a bike or a big telly etc into a boot of a saloon!

And for the love of god don't buy a ****ing bog level Insignia. Life's waaaay to short for that. Ugh.

The Astra saloon always seems to be launched halfway through the current Astra generation's life cycle and then imo looks very dated when the next generation hatchback ia launched. They don't seem to sell in huge numbers down this neck of the woods like the Corolla and Focus despite there being at least 2 Opel dealers in the area.

BTW the new Insignia is a hatchback and estate only, they dropped the saloon from the range so I wouldn't be surprised in the Astra saloon followed suit given it's only sold in certain markets.
