Hi all. Just wonder if you can advise do I need to remove hubcaps for my Nct? I'm totally lost! I understand that they need to see a wheel nuts and that's what I think is visible right now but since I don't have alloy just normal plastic ones I'm quite confused. I was trying to remove them without tools but it look like wheel nuts aro on them.

    It's for hyundai Getz

You'll need to remove them if the wheel nuts aren't visible. Can you upload pics?

If they are the original Hyundai brand hub caps that came with the car, you won't need to remove them. The OEM hubcaps on the Getz are held in place by the wheel nuts and they are visable through the hub cap. They are a bit of an exception to the rule.

99% of hubcaps need to be removed. If you are absolutely sure the hubcap is held in place by the wheel nuts themselves, you'll be fine leaving them on. The are uncommon tho. Most hubcaps need to be removed for the NCT. Take a pic and stick it up.

Indeed most hubcaps do need to be removed. Hyundai OEM hub caps are held by the nuts though, which is a good idea really. Look at any Hyundai, even the current i10, 20 or 30, the hub caps are all held on with the nuts.

Thanks a lot for all your help guys!

I am not able to post pic cause I am a new user :( But yeah it does look like on pic posted above and I am quite sure I would not be able to remove it without removing wheel nuts first. I did try but without tool it seems impossible

One of my mate said i'd need to go to tyre place and ask them to unscrew wheel nuts to remove hub caps there but it seems to be odd as i'd miss entire point of checking them first place right?

The mk1 punto was the same, hubcaps held on by wheel nuts

Correction, one wheel bolt. I had one back in the day and it made me smile seeing the cable ties on them. My daughter's boss has an Insignia with alloys and cable ties wrapped around each wheel.... Only in Ireland...

If they are the ones in the pic above, 100% no need to remove.

Chances are that they are hubcaps that look like alloys. Common on lots of opels and Ford's.

Ah here I know I need specs for reading but I do know the difference between alloys and hubcaps.

Hi just let you all know - I passed my nct today and nobody even mentioned hubcaps! :) all good.

Thanks a lot for your help. You saved a lot of my time, energy and dignity I'd say in case I'd go to tyre place 😂

Honda hupcaps are held in place with the wheel nuts too, at least on older ones anyway.

    How about Skoda Fabia?

Take off the plastic covers on all the bolts .There is a tool in the spare wheel kit to use.

    Cheers

If the studs are visible and are holding the hubcap in place then there is no need to remove the hubcaps

They are called structural steel wheels. Very handy, cheap, lighter than alloy wheel and still look good. I don't understand why other don't make them...

    The wheel itself:
