Hi everyone, I wanted to see if anyone knows about the hear scheme. I got a letter saying I'm eligible to compete for one of the hear reduce points places last month for the courses I applied to. I opened my results yesterday to see that I gotten way more points needed for my course, so I dont think I will need the reduced points that hear offers. I wanted to know, if I'm not actually competing for reduce points for my course, am I still on the hear scheme and still benefit from the hear scheme offers?? Thanks

Yes, the possibility of reduced points is only one part of the HEAR scheme. You will still be entitled to the other benefits your university offers (I was a HEAR student who didn't use reduced points).

    Many don't, in fact.

I think it varies massively by university but in addition to that, we had things like a library of books, photocopying cards, and of course general support and someone to lend an ear when needed!

Was wondering about this as well. I think I'm safe points wise so I don't know where that leaves me. Last year my sister went to a different college than the one I'll be going to and even though she didn't use the points either I know she got about €400 around November time :P
