I have to get new tyres and havnt a clue being totally honest !!!

A5 quattro. Currently have Pirelli's and not sure weather to just get the same ones again or would the great boardsies recommend anything else?

    Im getting quoted for:

    Hankook
    Pirelli
    Goodyear

In that order cheapest to most expensive
Price isnt a major issue for me - although the cheaper for me the better, i just want good tyres, that of course look well

    Any advice comes much appreciated

And how do you find them ? I'd take end user opinion over the opinion of someone trying to sell me something.

What size op and what model of tyre anc price are you being quoted for ?

I've been driving 4wd audis and vws for 10 years now and have always used either Goodyear f1s or Michelin pilot sports and would find it hard to separate them in terms of performance.

Goodyear eagle f1 assymetric 2. Had them on mine. Great.

Michelin pilot sport 3 also work well but less grip in wet.

Definitely do NOT buy continentals for the a5 Quattro. They are noticeablely loud and not worth the money at all. They are not bad brand new but get much louder as they wear down

The tyre guy has them on all his family cars and has been selling them for the past 20 odd years. So I'd trust what he has to say, he's got a great reputation with his customers too.

Yeah just my first few weeks driving on them, havent had a chance to test them properly in the wet but in the dry, so far so good. I have 235/45/18 on mine, and unfortunately I couldnt get them from the tyre shop I spoke of, as there is some distribution problems with the current distributor in the north, but got them from Tyre Leader for 530 and got them fitted and balanced in Victory Tyres for 60.

Had The Eagle F1 Aysmmetric, fantastic in the wet but wear heavy on the tyres!

Same guy recommended vreidstein to me on my last car (think they were Quadtrac 3), victory had come highly recommended to me so I went with his recommendation and they served me very well, victory has a great reputation so I would put some weight behind his recommendation.

Mine were for a 03 Mondeo (205/55/R16) they were not the quietest but good grip in the wet and light snow.

Decided on my last car to give the Avon's a go and so far I cant fault them. They seem to be a very good midrange tyre.

I had 4 x Goodyear's GripPerformance fitted on the Volvo and they are excellent as well.

    Don't buy budget. :)

    Uniroyals?

+1 on the uniroyals rainsport excellent tyre especially in wet conditions and reasonable price. Can't recommend these enough.

+1 on the Uniroyals too, my wife has them on her MX-5 and they go through standing water as if it wasn't there. They have something called shark skin technology in the grooves which sounds like bullsh*t, but actually seems to work :D

I have Michelin Pilot Sport 3's, also mentioned above, on my car and whilst great in the dry they're unimpressive in the wet, again when there's a lot of standing water around.

I've an A6 and I've had Bridgestone and Hankook tyres on it in the past. Currently on a set of Pirelli.

The Hankooks were 'ok', but I found they wore faster than the others and didn't find them quite as good in the wet.

Car was most 'sure footed' on the Bridgestones - felt like it was on rails. Pirellis are a close second.

Following the cheaper the better line, great value to be had in Aotelis. Good quality, and look pretty good too.
