Your favourite f1 moment from a race

    Shamelessly robbed from the soccer form, what is your favourite moments from f1 over the last 4 decades.
    In no particular order
    Mine, I never jumped as much, the day Schumacher got 3rd in Valencia almost as much as getting pole in Monaco in the Merc.
    Jordan's in spa was one of the greatest times.
    With the benefit of being older, in my younger days I hated hill during the rivalry with Schumacher, and loved the fact that he did not win in Hungary that day, I remember it so well being on holidays and having to go to a family friends house to watch it on my own, I think I was the only 13 year old I knew that followed f1, and begging for hill to break down. Now I look back and regret him not winning that day, a day that could show anything was possible in f1 no matter the budget, that sometimes it could go in favour of the little guy, even if some little git was begging against it😀

    Watched this live as a boy.

    Sitting on the couch and then it all kicked off. The noise as well. Incredible race and one I treasure.

    Spa 1998 was one hell of a grand prix from both starts to finish

    Hakkenin chasing down Schumacher in Spa in 2000. And then passing inside Zonta. Some great onboard video from Hakkenins car and Zonta when they pass

    My favourite moment is when Timo Glock was in fifth place at the 2008 Brazilian GP and dropped back to sixth. Oh the drama.

    Love or hate any of the two potential champions, such an in conspicuous moment decided the title. After years going by, I now do wish Timo kept his fifth place. It'd be nice if Massa had a world championship.

    A few, not in order of importance but simply...how they come in mind:

    - Alboreto climbing out of a stricken, smoking Ferrari, some race in 1985, while my dad cussed at the TV; My first memory of F1!

    - Mansell overtaking Senna a the Hungaroring in 1989; I remember replaying the move for the whole of the following week using my toy cars - only difference, I didn't have an Onyx (quite obviously...), so used a Brabham as the lapped car;

    - 1990 Mexican Grand Prix...mostly because I couldn't finish watching it as it was past my bedtime! I went to sleep with the McLarens dominating, next morning my dad tells me Prost won; Clearly missed a great race (and Mansell's move on the outside of Berger, I discovered later...like, 20 years later);

    - 1995 Canadian Grand Prix, when Schumacher came in the pits with gearbox issues; Up until the very last metre of the very last lap, I fully expected Alesi's car to grind to an immediate halt like it had done, well, any time he had a vague chance of winning a race;

    - Obviously, Hakkinen's overtake in Spa in 2000;

    - Montoya's "get out of my way" overtake on Schumacher in Interlagos 2001, kind of a "Hello everyone, I'm Juan Pablo, you'll hear more about me" moment;

    - 2011 Canadian Grand Prix, realizing JB was going to win it; After four hours of purgatory, witnessing the most surreal recovery of a race in recent history;

    - Nico's doughnuts on Yas Marina's finish straight last year :) ;

    Fernando Alonso winning the World Drivers Championship in 2005 and again in 2006 at last there was a team and a driver capable of beating Schumacher and the Ferarri's

    Jenson Button's win in Hungary in 2006

    Brazil 2008 some race and ending but that really should have been Massa,s year

    Brazil 2009 what a race.

    Jensen winning the WDC in 2009

    and then Jenson again in 2011 putting the pressure on Vettel making Vettel make a mistake and him winning the race.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

    Do it the old fashioned way. Buy a dvd recorder or a hard drive and record it to that. They should be cheap enough to get. Maybe someone on here has it recorded on a dvd and would post it to you if they have more than one.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

    Suzuka 1994 - Mansell vs Alesi and then Hill winning by 3 seconds. Got up to watch it live. Epic.

    Not a moment from a race, but Villenueve, Schumacher and Frentzen all setting the exact same fastest lap time for qualifying at Jerez in 1997

    Schumacher v hill Aussie gp 1994. Everyone knew he would do it but no one thought he would do it. So feckin cold and calculating.

    Remember that one as well...pouring rain, Mansell essentially tried to pass around 130R every single lap, to no avail. The two latest of the late brakers in F1 at the time going at it...doesnt get much better than that!

    That always stunk of showrunning to the high heavens to me - I remember perfectly about spotting the top three times being identical on the TV of the bar/cafe' opposite school (yep, we went to school on Saturdays) and thinking there must have been a mistake. When I got home and checked the teletext, I still couldn't believe it!

    Not really...Schumacher made a mistake and clunked the wall pretty hard just before the move; Knowing he was effectively out of the race (cars back then were way "softer" than today's, suspension and steering arms bent/cracked if you so much looked at them a little too intensely!), he just tried to take Damon with him. He suceeded, but it wasn't a given.

    I'm an F1 from the 80's so here's my offering up to the mid 90's

    1984

    Dallas: Mansell pushes his out of fuel Lotus over the line for 6th and promptly dies....

    1985

    Silverstone - A ferocious fight between Prost in the McLaren and Senna in the iconic black Lotus. Prost eventually won and lapped the field after Senna ran out of fuel several laps from home.

    European Grand Prix @ Brands Hatch: Mansell's first win and done in style. Prost finished forth after climbing through the field to clinch his first long overdue title.

    1986

    British Grand Prix. A titanic high speed stalemate between Piquet and Mansell who were the class of the field, eventually resolved in Mansell's favour.

    Australian Grand Prix: A three way fight between Mansell, Piquet and Prost the outsider. A race that needs no recollection among die-hard f1 fans

    1989

    Hungary: Mansell with that memorable overtake on Senna for the win.

    Suzuka Part 1: a small matter of a clumsy clatter at the Chicane deciding the title.

    1990

    Mexico: for the same reasons as already mentioned above. How to win a race at 8,000ft from 13th on grid (Prost) and Mansell's 200mph round the outside of Berger.

    Silverstone: I was there to witness Prost driving a finely judged win, and Mansell tossing his gloves to the crowd at Copse not far from where I was standing.

    Suzuka Part 2: a not so small matter of a clumsy clatter at the first corner deciding the title.

    1993

    Donnington: Senna making F1 look like a lap from a PlayStation.

    1996

    Barcelona: Schumacher delivering a master class in wet weather driving that Senna would've applauded.

    Monaco: A Ligier does the business and arguably the most exciting race prior to Spa in '98

    Single moment is Brazil 08. Followed Ham at the time and hated Ferrari and Massa so that outcome was epic! Was also in a house full of Hamilton haters who didn't even watch the sport. :D

    Lots of others that aren't single moments that deserve mention. The whole of 99 when Jordan was in with a shout of the championship, Verstappen Brazil 16, Canada 11, rookie Alonso in the Minardi 01, Alonso breaking Ferraris stranglehold in 05, Alesi Canada 95.

    A lot of the above, Spa 1998, Schumacher/Hill in 1994, Schumacher/Villeneuve Jerez 1997 ( "you hit the wrong part of him my friend" martin brundle on commentary made it more remarkable), Schumacher spain 1996, Hill at Hungary 1997, even (for sentimental reasons only) schumacher's mercedes "pole" in monaco.

    All of the murrayisms deserve mentions also, "It's Villeneuve , This is fantastic" from Canada 97 my personal favourite, honorable mention to "Eddie Jordan trailing at the back", but there are literally hundreds of others.

    The only recent mentionable event that comes to mind was Verstappen at Spa - the overtake around the outside.

    As an Irishman and friend of EJs this was the highlight for me

    When Hamilton and Rosberg crashed in Spain last year. Couldn't believe what had happened.
    Hamilton's engine blow up in Malaysia also is up there more for his wailing on the radio than anything else.
    Maldonado's win in Spain 2012. The tension of the last few laps with Alonso chasing him down and then the joy when he crossed the line on the final lap.
    Hakkinen's pass in Spa 2000 as mentioned by others. One of the bravest overtaking moves ever.
