Looking at the easiest way to do this, i've looked on google and got advice from some people.

From what i can see it's a monorail to train station, then train and then about ten minutes walk or taxi/bus

    Or

Some google searches say there is a bus from outside the airport straight into the town and near enough the hotel.

When we went to rdinburush we did the bus outside airport and walked, so i think that would be my preference, but i am open to suggestions???

    Thanks in advance!!!

Quickest way from Birmingham Airport to city is by train.
The bus takes twice as long.
I lived in Brum for 15 years I would never take the bus from or to the airport--except rail replacement buses!!!
Walk from New Street through centenary square to Broad Street.
    Enjoy

    Thanks for further information

    So
    Monorail to Birmingham International
Get London Midland Train to New Street
Then walk the way you said

Just looking on train(guessing as its not till November) its £12.40 return, or do we just buy the tickets when we get there?

The train is £3.10 each way from BHI (Airport) to BHM (New Street) and can be booked online via nationalrail.co.uk or else buy from the Machine Kiosks on the day. The monorail is free and it just connects the terminal building over to the Railway station. There is several trains per hour with Virgin and London Midland both serving it. Birmingham is quite congested so your better off using Rail rather than buses or road transport where possible, the M6 is often just a big car park.

That £3.10 fare is only valid on Virgin Trains services, the fare valid on all trains (labelled as "Any Permitted") is £3.70.

Assuming a return is required the "Anytime Return" fares are £6.10 Virgin Trains only or £7.20 Any Permitted.

Buying the Virgin only fares is generally fine as they run every 20 minutes most of the day, just be aware not to take any other operator's train with these tickets.

All these fares are unrestricted walk-up fares with no discount for buying online ahead of travel, they can be bought at the ticket office for the same price.

I would also agree with the previous advice regarding the bus; It's not a great option, twice the journey time at best and it drops off further away from that hotel than New Street Station.

Thanks, wasnt sure where to post

Thanks to all the posters, I think we are well sorted, the anytrain ticket sounds the safest option, no messing around if we miss a Virgin
