So I have a LHD car and it looks like I'm going to have to switch sooner than I had planned. Does anyone know if there are dealers that accept a LHD car as part of the trade in?

    you're looking at scrap value.

no dealer will take a LHD

although.. if you have a lhd on irish plates, you might find an ex-pat in holland or germany that might take it.

    ... but chances ares slim

Not necessarily. The car may have value to be exported. It's hard to know when we don't know what car it ia.

dealers are looking for a quick buck,... exporting and claiming vrt / tax back is a hassle ... best going private sale

The plan was to bring it back to its original country in a few months and sell it there but I'm not sure if there is time for that now. The car isn't worth much as it is but still...

If you stick it on Donedeal perhaps you might get a buyer returning to their home country permanently or on holidays and would use it for the trip. Depends, if it's a €50k 7 Series or a €500 Mondeo your talking about whether the journey and cost is worth it.

Depending on the car it's worth sticking it on donedeal. Someone heading home to Eastern Europe might be interesting in it if it's significantly cheaper than buying the same car over there.

Tell us what car is it, and where is it registered.
    Maybe someone might be interested.

I had no problem selling a LHD car on donedeal before. Probably easiest option

If you don't want to sell private, this guy might take it - http://www.carrigtradecars.com/

    What makes you say that?

Did you ever end up selling the car?

I'm in the reverse situation. I need to escape this rock before the politicians cave to the clamours of the people and lock the borders. I'd prefer though mainland Europe in an LHD but I'm struggling find swapsies.
