Hopefully not a silly question! I'm moving to oz soon and wondering whether I'd be better getting a bagpack or a big suitcase? I'll be staying in a hostel for the first while.

I moved to Oz but did some travelling first around SE Asia so i took a backpack. I suppose it depends on how much moving around you are going to be doing. a backpack is easier to move around then a big huge suitcase.

Always a backpack if you are travelling. If you are going on holiday, then a suitcase.

My rule is, if you can't carry, then don't bring it.

Suitcases are a pain to lug around, wheeling them, wheels break, they tip over, hard to use in busy areas. Backpacks can fit as much stuff in, pack them properly and they are comfortable if you have a decent one and you still have 2 hands free.
