BT Sport signal problems

Lads can someone help me with this before I fire the box out the window. I only have problems with 2 channels. BTSport2 HD & ESPN HD. The SD channels work fine.

I've replaced the box, replaced the dish, replaced the cables, & replaced the LNB.

I've a friend who does a bit of installing dodgybox's on the side who's looked at it for me numerous times adjusting the dish & it's perfect for a day or 2 then bang. No satellite signal is being received. I notice that always from 7pm till 9pm it works fine - no problems, then starts again. It's horrible watching matches on SD especially when you have the HD

The next time you have a signal, get a signal strength reading from the box if it is available. The difference between no signal and perfect can be very little. It has a FEC of 8/9 which needs a bit more signal than more common ones like 3/4 and 5/6.

    What size is your dish?

If it is happening to a very specific few channels and at set times of the day, I would be looking for local interference from something like a baby monitor or other device near the dish or box.

OP I'll allow this thread to proceed on the basis that it's a satellite signal issue you want to discuss. You haven't indicated that you yourself are using a dodgeybox.

This thread will be closed if it should become clear that piracy is involved

Sorry, I assumed when I said he fitted a few 'on the side' you'd understand I meant I got him instead of a Sky Engineer to look at it for me to save me the €60. I've a full Sky account.

I'm not sure of the dish, it looks like just your normal Sky Digital dish. I'll try that link when I get home. Thanks.

Yes, but BT Sport 2 HD & ESPN, the other channels on the Eir Sport pack work perfect, definitely no interference like that around it plus living in a remote part of the county in Kerry.

That was clear to me too but, to be fair, why mention at all that's what he did?

You said in your OP that BT Sport 2 HD is one of the problem channels?

Anyhow, according to that Kingofsat site, BT Sport 1 is carried on 2 transponders, your 'problem' one, & another with more error correction, so maybe you're getting it from the latter.

This error correction issue was noted already (8/9 v. 4/3), & it's also worth a mention that both transponders use the same centre frequency but with different polarity, & I assume this makes them more sensitive to signal deficiencies than if they were more interleaved.

Maybe you've just got a zone 1 Sky dish, which mightn't be ideal at your location.
