    Hi
I'm just hoping someone can help me
I just applied for a full time 9 month Healthcare Support course
I hoping to work as a carer and eventually go on to nursing
This course would be a major stepping stone, for me as I have worked previously as a carer to a family member and in a home for the elderly for 6 years, a few years ago. I have 1 module of the 8 completed for the full award
Caring has always been my thing
I am hoping to be accepted on this course, as I will have to go for an interview in the next 2 weeks

I'm not receiving any income at the moment , as I had recently started a job and it ended badly (long story), with me having not received my P45 from the workplace
The company now has no staff or employees (the other employees have been laid off for the time been) and the boss lives overseas (travels the world), so I am doubtful I will receive it
I did sent a letter to the company explaining the reasons for having to leave and requesting my P45
Its been 2 weeks now since so should I go to the social?
I don't think they will be to happy, but my safety and welfare was put at risk in this job and that's why I left
I had previously got Job seeker's Benefit for 9 months and was in the process of been means tested for Job seeker's Allowance, when I got this job, so i signed off.

Now that I have applied for this course (which I hope I get) which starts mid September , Can I tell this at the social about this
I am married with 2 young children, 1 of which is school going. Husband self employed

If anyone can help/offer advice, I would be very grateful

You should definitely go to what you describe as "the social" and tell them that you left the job last week - from what you've posted elsewhere it's clear that you had a very good reason for doing so. You won't get any benefit - or even PRSI credits - until you have re-activated your file with them.

Also, why not visit to your local Citizens Information Office (find it here:
http://centres.citizensinformation.ie ) and talk to them about your situation and what you're planing to do. It's free and they're very helpful. (It's probably best not to bring the kids, so you can concentrate on what you're being told!)

Thanks for you response and advice
When I go to my local welfare office, I will bring a copy of the letter, I sent to my employer with me to show them my reasons and also my application letter ,for the course I hope to start next month and hopefully they will open a new application.

They may suspend me for 9 weeks (for leaving the job)
But I felt I had no other choice.

Hi op you need to go into you local sw office ASAP and apply for jobseekers allowance quickly and get the means test sorted out. If they decide you're entitled to something AND you're accepted onto the course then you could back to them with your acceptance letter and apply for BTEA.
The gap in your payments won't matter as long as you are getting sw immediately before you begin your course so it's REALLY important you go in ASAP and get this sorted out. If it takes them a while to do it you could miss out.

    Have a read of this-

Thanks for your reply and advice

I went in to my local welfare office on Wednesday morning last
I explained and story to the lady there and she went and got some forms for me to fill to apply for Jobseeker's Allowance

I went back in the afternoon to there with all the forms completed and documentation required, along with my application letter for the college course I have applied for
I was given a date for September 5th to meet with the inspector to be means tested and If I had been accepted by then for this course to bring a letter with me, showing this . So I hope I know by then
The course is starting the week after, on September 12th

That's good so they should be able to transfer you straight to BTEA on that day I would guess.

Fingers crossed you get onto the course!! Best of luck with it.
