I've finally decided to take the plunge and get photoshop CC.

The question.....if I download it from the Adobe US site will it work.

Its a €36 difference compared to the Irish site.

    thanks.

I think you'll be redirected to the Irish site

AFAIK the license is valid worldwide.

I subscribe in Australia and am invoiced from Adobe Ireland. Think that is for their tax reasons, like Apple.

Are you buying it outright? The Photography package (LR & PS) is €12 per month

I wonder can I cancel my irish subscription of €12 per month and then sign up for the US one and save myself 3.50 per month, €40 odd a year?

You commit to a 12 month contract on the monthly sub. They will charge you 50% of the remainder if you cancel.

Has got me thinking. I'm over a year with this too and, while I use it, I only use it really to set white balance and do some auto contrast, auto colour etc...

I usually save my files as low quality small jpeg after processing (between 1 and 2mb). I know I can go back into photoshop anytime and save the imagine again as a high quality photo, say if I wanted to print. If I got rid of photoshop, would it I be able to resize all my photos some other way???

    Thanks!

Even the most basic of free image preview software should be able to achieve these basic tasks:
    Mac: Preview (Tools:Adjust Colour/Size)
    PC: XnView, Infraview etc

Agreed - in addition to the above consider GiMP ( https://www.gimp.org )

Thanks for the suggestions. I've cancelled the photoshop CC (wasn't easy by the way, lots of hassle about auto renewal apparently in the t&cs).

Having googled it, I will try the gimp photo software (now that I think of it, I do occasionally use dodge /burn, straighten horizons etc). Have never really got hey that though or using layers etc. I get the impression it would be nearly as hard as learning a new language and it puts me off (I recently followed a YouTube tutorial on how to create a tryptich and it ended up taking me about 90 minutes).

If you do not use layers then you are missing out on the advantages of Photoshop. Gimp does have layers too I believe.

The reason I use Photoshop, regardless of some of the awful tools, is that it is still the only package available to give access to Channels. If you just want to do basic adjustments then other software is probably much easier to use and cheaper.

Initial view of the gimp software is that it is horrendous and not even slightly intuitive. Horrible experience! Opening a raw file, difficult. Rotating a photo, had to Google it.. After a while messing around with it I couldn't figure out how to adjust the white balance. I will stick with it for a while but first impression is that I'd rather pay for photoshop again than have to deal with this

Plenty of tutorials out there on GiMP, try them and run through them a few times.
You can do the majority of stuff in GiMP that you can do photoshop etc. Don't give up...and don't throw away your money!!

    Best of luck!

Thanks. Still find this really horrible to use! Are there any plug ins you can get that will offer an almost automated quick processor of a photo?? I've seen something called 'perfectly clear' for photoshop but don't think it works in gimp. Thanks again!
