Ho All, i have a dressing table in a bedroom looking to replace. The trouble is we had timber floors put down a few years ago and floors aren't under the dressing table so if i take out i'll be left with a space of about 1m squared with no timber. No i'll just be putting another unit in but any help would be appreciated. Have timber but it's different to the one that's laid. see pics, any tips welcome!!!!

I would put in a narrow wardrobe from Ikea to cover the big hole where the drawers were. It's not really as big as 1m x 1m is it?

I would put a table like this: http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/products/tables/cafe-bar-tables/billsta-table-white-white-spr-19128715/

These tables can be used as a dressing room table but you can also move them around the room to use for something else. Much more flexible than what you have. (I have done this myself where I replaced the built in wardrobe and dressing table in a rental property.)

If the other side of the dressing table is also floored-around, just shove the flooring to meet. There will be a hole but it will not be very noticeable and you can fill it well enough that it will do.

Fill the gap with MDF or plywood and get a nice rug or runner on the floor
