Hi all, apologies if this is has been asked before.
I have moved out of Dublin and closed my sky account so I want to get satellite TV set up asap in my new home.

I want to go with the FTA channels and since I really liked the live pause/rewind options we had with our sky box I'd like something similar to replace it.

I don't see too many installers in the Cavan area but this website seems to offer what looks like a reasonable deal for Fresat HD+ and will install in my area.
How does this look for price and features?
Is there anything I should look our for, makes to avoid etc?

Would you have any other recommendations for similar or better packages or installers?

    Cheers

Be aware that if you wish to receive Saorview Irish channels you will need in addition, an aerial and a Saroview set top box.

In Cavan the UK Freeview channels from a transmitter in NI (Brougher Mt.?) should be available to you with the same aerial as Saorview as an interim solution. The plus of this setup is a single cable can feed all receivers around the house including terrestrial recorders with both the Saorview and Freeview channels.

Have a chat with a local installer.

Freeview is not as good as freesat
Get a freesat combi box with enigma on it.
Amiko alien etc you will have all the uk and Irish channels on one box .
Good epg and record and pause etc series link etc.
You can even change the menu skin etc to look outher services.
Your not getting the Irish channels on that box you have link for

OK you've lost me - what are enigma, amiko and alien?
    What is a combi box?
I'm gonna guess epg is a programme guide?

Look here go down to where the videos are for enigma

Amiko alien triple is a box which allows you to record one channel while watching another
Also pause and record etc series link
    Same as sky
You can even get a skin that makes it look the same
You will get all your Irish channels and your uk freesat ones

Combi box means you get your Irish channels and your uk ones
The box you posted link too will only have uk channels on it

Thread hi-jack: does the enigma auto-update for channel frequency changes? I like the idea of a box, although not branded to Freesat, but will need very little management.

That is correct but to further clarify a combi box would be capable of receiving Irish (saorview) channels via roof top aerial (or indoor aerial if strong signal available) combined with FTA channels via a satellite dish. Basically a box that will receive both satellite and terrestrial channels

Do I need to do a scan of Astra + Eurobird?

    Or just Astra?

Yes Sky News is FTA. FreeSat is a branded FTA Satellite service in the UK, like Terrestrials Freeview and Saorview, AFAIK all FreeSat channels are on astra????

I'm assuming your receiver still has Eurobird at 28 degrees east.

Eurobird isn't at the 28 east position anymore, but some of the frequencies used by the current Astra satellites will be listed under it, & of course what you need to do to get all the channels is scan all the frequencies (transponders).

There is of course a long list of satellites listed on my box, and I have highlighted two of them, Astra2 and Eurobird.

Then after a full scan I have all the Astra & Eurobird channels listed with quite a few duplicated

I have noticed that there are some stations unique to Eurobird, SkY News being one of them, so I'm just wondering how to proceed......

Its been a few years since I set up my channels/satellites from scratch (& I have forgotten how I did it originally), so any advice is very welcome indeed.

Sky News is on Astra 12207V
