    From wishlist to wrist-list!!!

    Happy Birthday to me......

Finally got my coveted X-33 around my wrist and I can honestly say I'm delighted with it. I'll start by saying I'm a fan of titanium - I have a couple of other Ti watches, a Ti bike and Ti framed sunnies......plus my wedding ring is Ti. I find it's a very 'warm' metal.

For it's size the watch is light without being a featherweight - there's a nice weight to it on the wrist that lets you know it's there but not so much that it feels like its dragging.

It looks very low key and subtle on the wrist. It's never going to be an eye-catcher, which is probably in keeping with its origin as a 'working' watch, rather than as a dress watch or something more flamboyant.

The face is very clear to read and more than any other watch I have its super quick to read at a glance - there are no distracting sub-dials or complicated graphics to serve as a distraction, just simple batons and simpler indices. The more complicated time keeping features don't crowd in on the ultimate purpose of the device which is to tell the time!

The buttons are solid in terms of their action - the crown might be subject to accidental activation because I wear watches on my right wrist, but the other buttons need a bit more effort to trigger and provide good feedback when they have been engaged.

The alarms are really loud! The literature explains they are thus because in the noisy environment of the ISS you need to be able to hear them - and I don't doubt that you would be able to; they're not exactly subtle. However, the echo chamber used to generate the volume also means that it is only guaranteed to 30m, in terms of waterproofness. Which is fine for me - I don't dive so have no real need for anything more waterproof.

The only 'negatives' thus far are the bi-directional bezel which is a bit clunky, especially compared to some of the 120 click Seiko bezels I have on other watches......the bracelet, which while it has a spring loaded catch lacks the extra security of an overlapping security clasp that I have on a Citizen watch and that I really like.....finally, the lume and backlight are a gorgeous sexy soft green but the light is operated by the same button that activates programming mode so programming the watch in low light or dark conditions can be problematic - but these are only minor niggles on what is otherwise a lovely bit of kit.
