BTEA / Part-time work

I'm currently enrolled in my final year of college. I'm in receipt of BTEA and I want to work part-time. I don't fully understand the current rules on working whilst receiving BTEA, so would like some clarification if possible. I have been in continuous receipt of BTEA since September 2015 and I'm approved to continue receiving it until June 2018.

Will I be means tested if get a job right now whilst on JA waiting to go back onto BTEA and how would this affect my claim for BTEA. It is essential that I receive it to afford to attend college.

If you mean a summer job then no, your BTEA payment will not be affected - although your JA may be reduced or stopped depending on how much you earn.

But if you mean a part-time job that you intend to keep after your new academic year has started (and your BTEA payment has resumed) then you will be required to undergo a means test.
