Can anyone recommend a good grass seed mixture or varieties for 2 cuts of silage and some grazing then? It's a dry field, will only be used for silage and grazing for heifers etc after the second cut. Too far from parlour to graze.

Thanks! Unsure what to put in it as i have usually just being resseding the grazing block, first silage field in years to do.

Seen a mix with 3.50 kg aberchoice 2 kg abergain 2.25 kintyre and 3 drumbo 0.5 clover. Too much varieties in that mix?

    Or 2.5 seagoe 2 dunluce 3 abermagic 3.5 clanrye.

Is the clover less effective if not intensively grazed?

I've changed tune towards clover now ,didn't put any in mixes for last few years but included this year and even stitched 2 kg per acre into existing awards. Still I wouldn't like to have as much as clonakilty have .i need grass in spring not bare patched

The clover is at risk because of the cutting low for silage rather than benefiting from grazing, IMO.

If second cut is early in July there will be benefit of clover from then on. If its two late cuts then wont grow well into sward.
