Not sure if this is the right area to post but I need some help on what qualifications I need if any to be a draftsman.

I'm quite skilled when it comes to drawing up floor plans, I would say without being too big headed I'm pretty much able to be an architect in all but name as I don't have a college degree to back up my skills.

So I was thinking of a way to earn a bit of extra money and it came to me that I could potentially be a draftsman. Now my only problem is I'm not quite sure how the industry is regulated and what the qualifications are for one to call themselves a draftsman.

Any info would be much appreciated.

As far as I'm aware, the title draftsman is not protected, nor is it professionally accredited. So I don't think you need any particular qualifications. It's more ability based than that imo.

What skills do you have that enable you to be an architect (all but name)? Anyone who has done a handy CAD course could draw up a floor plans.

go onto recruitireland.ie and serch for jobs as "draftsman"
    you wont find any.

it doesn't really exist anymore as a profession.

Jobs are in the specialist areas of professional drafting, which require QQI accreditation.

If you have a flair for designing then you could look into CAD technician courses.
